My Psalm of Praise

One of the fictional Christian movie called 'Encounter with God' is about Jesus being a server in a restaurant, and people from different walks of life come there, and over the course of time come to know that He is Jesus, and have various conversations with Him. It is a feel-good movie.

At the end of the movie, I just sighed and said in my heart, 'I wish I could also have an encounter with you like in the movie'. By this time in life, I had come to the maturity of not relying on visions to have faith in God. The sigh was only the desire of seeing Him, truly have His presence, and be able to have a conversation with Him like that with a friend. It was just a sigh. I didn't think much about it. I then went on to reading the Bible. I didn't have any particular passage in my mind to read. So, I was flipping and landed in Psalm 145. As I read, I came to verse 18 which said, 'The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth'. It was as if God heard my sigh and responded immediately - just like how it would happen if I spoke with a friend. I broke down thinking why such a Majestic God would care to listen to me, be near me, and respond to me. Since then, Psalm 145 has become my favorite.

For my wedding invitation, I was urged to re-write Psalm 145 in my words and add it to the back of my invitation. This is that poem.
